Job Opening at One of the Biggest Companies in the World – Was it a Fluke?

Did You Apply for Google’s CEO Job, too? You Must Read This!

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Google? It’s not an easy position to reach. Innumerable people dream of getting shortlisted for an interview at Google, let alone bagging a job. However, on a bright sunny day, a wild job posting appeared on Linkedin. Yes! The vacancy for none other than the most prestigious position at Google, for the position of CEO. I bet that it must have sparked hope in plenty of hearts and rightfully so. This job was immensely surprising for all of us.

As far as we’ve seen, Sundar Pichai, the current CEO of Google has been doing pretty well. He has played an integral in the forward strides that Google has taken recently. Hence, this job listing was immensely surprising for all of us.

Unsurprisingly enough, Google isn’t looking for a replacement yet. As it turned out, this was an error on Linkedin’s part.

The company has fixed the issue and an official statement has been given. LinkedIn said that “It’s not a place for fake jobs. We are committed to stopping fraudulent jobs from ever reaching our members through automated technology and the help of our members reporting any suspicious job postings.” The job listing was posted by Michel Rijnders and it’s still unclear why this happened in the first place.

Google, as we all know, has been doing pretty well. ‘Pretty well’ would be an understatement. Google’s parent company, Alphabet, generated a mind-boggling profit of $9.9B, beating last year’s revenue by a margin of 19%. Some users were skeptical of the posting because of this very reason. Well, if the CEO is turning a profit of almost 10 billion dollars, he might be doing something right.

LinkedIn thanked Michel Rijnders for bringing this into their attention. If you’re one of the people who applied for the job, tough luck. As the famous saying goes, “If something seems too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true.”
